The Chinese manufacturer said that the 200W charger can fully juice up a device with a 4,000 mAh battery in 8 minutes and the 120W wireless charger can do the same task in 15 minutes. That’s pretty fast. For reference, a OnePlus 9 Pro with a 4,500mAh battery and 65W wired charger juices up fully in 31 minutes; wireless charging takes about 43 minutes.
We’re about to redefine the charging experience with #XiaomiHyperCharge. #InnovationForEveryone pic.twitter.com/2rPrzw7BEu — Xiaomi (@Xiaomi) May 31, 2021 [Read: What’s GaN? And why’s it the next big thing in charging?] The company showed off its new tech in a video, which you can watch in the tweet below. It shows that the new wired charger can fill up 50% of the battery in just 3 minutes, and the wireless charger can achieve the same numbers in 7 minutes. Hell, I would like my phone to be charged that fast.
Too good to be true? Check out the timer yourself! #InnovationForEveryone pic.twitter.com/muBTPkRchl — Xiaomi (@Xiaomi) May 31, 2021 Currently, these are both concept stage chargers, but given how charging tech is moving in the industry, it won’t be surprising to see them in consumer products soon. Earlier this year, Vivo released the iQoo7 with a 120W charger in the box that can charge the phone from 0% to 100% in just 15 minutes. When we talk about wireless charging, OnePlus is already shipping a 50W charger compatible with its latest set of phones, and Oppo showed off a 125W charger last year. Exciting times for fast charging ahead!
